Day 1: Watch the video above to get started!
Let's Go!

First things first, what's your name? *

Thanks for that! Let's get started.

READY YOUR HEART - Prepare yourself.

Before you begin today, start with this prayer: "God, I ask that you would speak to me and give me clarity on what you want to say through these writings."

This past week, we said that everyone has a view of the Bible. If you were going to describe your view of the Bible, which of these words would you use? Choose as many as apply. *

During the message, we said, “If a book is the only foundation of our faith, Christianity becomes like a Jenga game. It could all fall a part. If the whole Bible isn’t true, Christianity isn’t true.”  In what ways does this challenge or confirm your view of the Scriptures? *

ENGAGE - Dive into the text.

Read Luke 3:1-2 NIV: In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness.

Why do you think Luke spent so much time outlining all of the people in this passage? What benefit would that have given him? Respond below. *

Why do you think the writers of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) were so focused on documenting what they saw? Respond below. *

Does realizing that the writers were focused on documenting versus simply telling a story make the Gospels feel more or less reliable? Why? *

APPLY - Take a step. *

During this last week’s message, we talked about a RELIABILITY GRID. This grid outlines four areas that help us process the trustworthiness of the Bible. Which of those was most compelling for you? Select below.

Which of those would you like more information about?

Over the coming week, we’d love to point you towards learning more about the elements of that grid. A great resource is a book by Frank Turek called, “Stealing From God” - specifically chapter 7. If you’re interested, you can buy the Ebook version by clicking here: https://goo.gl/eeNbr1

DECIDE - Change your heart.

To wrap up your time, pray this prayer or a version of this prayer: God guide me to more fully understanding and realizing what the writers of the New Testament did on my behalf to help me see what Jesus did for me.
Thank you. We will see you next week!
